A thriving market town
Elgin is a thriving market town with a long and fascinating history reflected now in the architecture and layout of the town.
With a population of 21,000, the town is served by two secondary schools and 6 primary schools. A great and growing selection of national retailers are found in the historic town centre and at retail parks, there is an excellent selection of pubs and restaurants and a modern leisure centre and ice rink complimented by a number of private health clubs.
Elgin is the administrative centre of Moray, the landscape of Moray in the Firth area is predominated by fertile farmland, to the South following the Spey valley it becomes is mountainous. Moray is the home of famous brands such as Baxters, Walkers, and Johnstons Cashmere, but it is perhaps as whisky country that the area is most well known.
